National Day for Truth & Reconciliation: Journey Through the Past, Understanding the Present, and Envisioning a Future Together

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation: Journey Through the Past, Understanding the Present, and Envisioning a Future Together In-Person

In partnership with Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Center, the City of Spruce Grove and Spruce Grove Public Library.

Join us on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation for an opportunity to learn about Canada’s history, engage in meaningful conversation, and hear from a local Elder. The evening will start with a musical performance by Alexis and Ted Wright. Afterwards, a screening of Holy Angels by Jay Cardinal Villeneuve will be shared. This short documentary powerfully recaptures Canada’s colonialist history through impressionistic images and the fragmented language of a child. Villeneuve met Lena through his work as a videographer with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Filmed with a fierce determination to not only uncover history but move past it, Holy Angels speaks of the resilience of a people who have found ways of healing—and of coming home again. Tea, Bannock, and fruit-infused water will be served after the screening.

Emotional Support will be available for the duration of the evening.
