Session 2: Where to Start
Genres, manuscript length, common tropes, themes
Session 3: Plotter or Pantser
Creating an outline for your work – or just winging it
Session 4: Point of View
Third person or first person
Session 5: Romance Settings
Using setting as a character to create a dynamic story
Session 6: Characters and Hero/Heroine Types
Who are your primary characters? What are their internal and external conflicts? How do they change and evolve within the story?
About the Facilitator:
Lynn Gale is a local writer and poet. Her romance series Return to Heart Creek (4 books) was published this year and is available on Amazon. She also writes children's picture books (The Big J Series) which are carried through Chapters/Indigo. She is the current president of the Calgary Romance Writers Assn of Romance Writers of America and an avid supporter of writers. She has presented her Romance Writing 101 workshop at the When Words Collide conference in Calgary as well as various Alberta libraries. Her poetry memoir L'Opacite was a finalist in the 2024 Whistler Independent Book Awards and two of her Big J books were Wishing Shelf Book Award finalists in 2024 and 2025.
