Love cats? Purrfect! Come hangout with fellow kitty enthusiasts at the Spruce Grove Public Library for an afternoon of cat-tastic fun!

There will be cat crafts and activities, kittens to adopt, with cat rescue @furgetmenotyeg!

All Ages, family-friendly (children under 12 must have caregiver on premises)

• Please note that this program will be held in-person at the Spruce Grove Public Library.
• Please register as soon as possible because space is limited.
• Children under 12 years must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver within the library (i.e., on the premises).
• Caregivers/Guardians are welcomed and encouraged to stay for the program.

WAIVER
There are many benefits associated with working with animals. Some benefits that have been found in utilising animals include:  

• Animals help improve motivation and engagement.
• Animals provide a sense of security and emotional support.
• Animals can promote relaxation. Research has demonstrated that petting an animal can help lower blood pressure, heart rate, and increase oxytocin (a feel-good chemical in the brain).
• Animals can help the participant learn frustration tolerance and other anger management techniques.
• Animals can help in the areas of focus and attention.
• Animals can be instruments of learning, which can increase self-confidence and self-esteem.
• Animals offer humor and fun due to their playful nature.

Attending a program with animals (cats) may not be appropriate for everyone. Even though there are many benefits to working with animals, there are risks involved in this type of program. For example: cats may nibble, accidentally scratch, lick, lean up against a participant, and/or cause light bruising. In addition, if the participant is allergic to cats or is unaware of an allergy, the participant may suffer from an allergic reaction.  

I hereby give permission for (attendee's name(s)) to attend the Kitten Shower at the Spruce Grove Public Library. 

I, (attendee's/caregiver's name) individually and/or on behalf of any minor child, specifically assume any and all known and unknown risk of injury or illness, resulting from interacting with cats, which may include, but is not limited to: zoonotic disease transmission, scratching, nibbling, heavy leaning, jumping, light brushing, and/or licking by a cat, and any unknown or known allergic reaction. 

I, (attendee's/caregiver's name) will treat the cats and handler, all attendees, and library staff with courtesy and respect or I may be asked to leave the program. This may include if the participant exhibits problematic behavior toward the cats, including but not limited to: kicking, biting, pushing, hitting, pulling the tail/ears/paws, and/or pinching.
